Je m'appelle Florent. Pendant plusieurs mois, j'ai parcouru le Kirghizstan, l'Ouzbékistan, le Tadjikistan et le Kazakhstan pour aller à la rencontre de celles et ceux qui avaient vécu la disparition de l'Union soviétique. Ce travail a donné naissance à un livre : Après l'Union. Portraits d'Asie centrale. My name is Florent. For several months, I travelled through Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan to meet people who had lived through the collapse of the Soviet Union. These encounters led to a book: After the Union. Portraits of Central Asia.

Je poursuis aujourd'hui cette même démarche avec un nouveau projet, Loin de Kaboul. Portraits d'un pays en exil, consacré aux Afghans vivant en France. I am now continuing the same approach with a new project, Far from Kabul. Portraits of a Country in Exile, about Afghans living in France.

J'aime partir d'un objet pour remonter le fil d'une vie. Une vieille photographie, un document conservé depuis des années ou un souvenir deviennent souvent le point de départ d'une histoire plus vaste. I often begin with an object and trace the story of a life from there. An old photograph, a document kept for years or a memory often becomes the starting point for a much larger story.
